Birdhouse Mini and March Break...

Hello everyone, March break is getting ready to end. It was a short one but anytime home with my son is too short. Although, I have been in British Columbia for three years we have not done much touring. As my husband is away, my little guy and I went to Bouchart Gardens, Butterfly Gardens and Mini World. I don't know why I waited so long, the gardens took my breath away. The Butterfly gardens for my son however was not much fun. He did not like the butterflies all around and went into panic mode so we had to leave. I did manage to get some great pics, not of him as he would not sit still to afraid the butterflies would land on him. We also took time to do some crafting, reading and spent time with the dogs. I was so happy for the break away from the office and started a birdhouse mini. I have only made the cover and the backside, but am hoping to finish it by the end of the weekend. This mini was very difficult for me, it took a lot of patience and I also made my own template using the scanner. I sprayed, sanded glued and did a lot of cutting. I really like the way it is coming along but not so sure I will ever attempt another birdhouse mini....I will use natural pics from gardens and pics from outside hense the birds leaves etc. Also, I now have a new grandson, he is just beautiful and I feel blessed....As always its been a pleasure talking to you. As soon as I get pics of my grandson I will post.....Have a great day :)

Worm Scarf

Good evening. As promised here are a few picks of my "Here and There" cable scarf other wize known as worm scarf. It has proven to be a very simple project, but time consuming. It is however, giving my scatter brain a break away from my scrapbook, but yet has given me the time to come up with a few ideas and changes I want to make to the mini album I have on the go or shall I say the few mini's I have on the go. With any luck I will be finished my scarf project next week and its time to get back to doing what I do best....scrapbooking

Knits and Things....

Hello everyone, its been a week since I last blogged or even had a glimpse at my blog. I have taken on a new project....knitting. I love to knit and is sometimes a nice break away from scrapbooking when you hit a cement wall, which I have for the last couple of weeks. My layouts are not turning out the way I imagined, I think I may be over thinking. Next to scrapbooking knitting is my other past time. I only make scarfs and wool blankets. I like the textures and am amazed at how a piece of yarn and sticks can weave such a beautiful mess. When I do knit, I use a lot of cables, cables are my ultimate favorite. I have been searching around the net to find a particular pattern of a scarf called "Here and There Cables", been searching for quite some time...Well, I finally found it! The scarf I am knitting up is full of beautiful cable inner weaving throughout the scarf, they sort of look like worms...lol. Its a simple pattern really, time consuming but well worth it. I am making it in a soft thin light blue wool, that can be worn in the warm winters of British Columbia. As soon as I get a few more rows done as to show the pattern I will post a pic, its alreally proven to be quite dashing. Thanks for stopping by and as always its been a pleasure talking to all of you.....

A New Week...

Yes, it is Monday and the week is already off to a great start. I will be starting a new job, in a new office with new people....change can be good every now and again. Not that I don't like the job I have now, I just think sometimes moving on allows you to grow and learn. I am hoping to get something accomplished this week by way of my scrapbook. My husband is going for a day surgery this week so I will be off work catering to his needs (LOL) he would do the same for me I am sure, so I figure I may be able to finish a few pages in-between the bell ringing... I have however, finished 2 pages of my best friends, not sure if I like them yet or not but its the first time I scrapbooked my dogs...They didn't turn out how I imagined, but I really liked the colors. They will be the first two pages of a mini...As I can not seem to get the scanner working to my preference, I had to take an actual picture.....As always its been a pleasure and thank you for stopping by...

Lessons Learned...

I guess another weekend has come and gone. It was a long week and a short weekend, maybe a little too short. I was a single parent this week, while my husband was out playing with the army, which ment not a lot of time left for scrap booking or anything else. I did however, manage to get in 3 runs, one coffee with friends and laundry caught up. Although, it was a busy week my coffee with friends turned out to be the best coffee and conversation I had had in a very long time. I learned a lot about myself that night and I also learned a lot about my dear friends...

1. KARMA - we really do get back what we do to others whether it be good or bad... Surround yourself with open-minded, non-judgemental, positive, nurturing and warm people. Who you associate yourself with says a lot about you;
2. I have friends in high places, friends I never knew I had. That puts me in a very happy place;
3. Things are not always as they seem, ask questions and you shall seek the truth;
4. I am a strong open-minded woman, my friends are strong, open-minded, trustworthy and people I want to be seen with; and
5. No one can define your life, you make your own destiny; allowing someone else to define who we are, we lose our ability to discover and grow inwardly. We no longer are able to discern a truth from a lie, because we have been honest with ourselves, we are able to love ourselves with all of our imperfections, and therefore need not have others approval.

It was a long coffee, but it was well worth it, mind you the other Tim Horton's customers may not have thought so through the laughter and tears...So as I stated above no scrap booking, no paper, no glue, no flowers and no pearls but I still made memories on that Monday evening....

Another sweet find...

I found these little guys stuck in an old scrapbook, just lying there waiting to be resued....I put a date of 2001 on the back of them, so they have been hanging around for awhile. I have moved across Canada many many times as I am in the military, so I am asuming I lost and found quite a few things between moves....but during my organization I am finding a lot of oldies. Although, I will never use these things I am still very much enjoying them...hmmm...maybe a mini about all my special finds????

A Life time ago...

Although, I love these paper piecings and enjoyed doing them all those years ago, my style and the way I scrapbook has very much changed. Now I love the flowers, pearls, patterns and lace just to name a few... I just can't put them away, its a memory of where I was...

I made this aprox 5 years ago for my DS bedroom door. Although, he still loves the famous Harry Potter this piece has been replaced for the sake of his little friends visiting....he is 9, and afraid of teasing...

Tinkerbelle, again made 9 years ago. It was once a young girls favorite character...

Winnie the Pooh, made 9 years ago...

Half Way There...

Wow, what a day!! It was my first day back after the holidays and was it hetic... Maybe going back on a Friday was not such a good idea, thought it was at the time, thought I could ease the pain of the Monday morning blues. None the less, it is Friday and the weekend is here yet again. Well, I started to clean up my huge mess and I am happy to say I am half way there, I am just hoping I will be able to find everything when it' put in its proper place, oh my! I think I use those words on my kids, what was I thinking? I came across a few surprize, pieces I totally forgot about and had done about 9 years ago. I did paper piercings of Winnie the Pooh, Harry Potter and Tinker Bell. Don't know why I never used them they are quite nice looking, well maybe there a little big? or for a wall maybe? I will take some picks and post them for fun. I am certainly enjoying going through all my stuff, its amazing what you can find when your not looking. Well as always its been a pleasure, must sign off and see if I can get in a few more minutes of cleaning before I curl up for the evening. But before I go, I know how to post on my own blog but tried to post on others to thank them for their comments and for some unknown reason I can't seem to figure it out....does anyone out there have any suggestions? Have a wonderful evening, and thanks for popping by.

My Floral Vine...

Out of my mess I managed to put together a floral vine. I followed a tutoral on the below link....

Gabrielle Pollacco has some great tutorials on her blog, they are easy to follow and her work is just beautiful. My vines certainly did not turn out to be like hers but not bad for my first one. Be sure to check out her blog, lots of wonderful ideas and inspiration....

Well here it is, my pretty mess.....

Those are not turtles really!!! I have stuff in that box....lol

Lots of Prima among my mess...

My Pretty Mess

What a pretty little mess I made last night....I only wanted to make some flowers and attach them to a branch! It didn't quite turn out that way, I need to seriously organize my stuff. Great thought but I know it will never get done, it would appear I know where everything is when it is messy, can't find anything when I have it arranged or organized shall I say...I took a few snapshots of my mess...beware its not pretty, well maybe it is......

My Grand-daughter

Since the birth of my grand-daughter I have only had the privilege of meeting her once when she was only one month old, she is now almost one. Time has certainly gone by fast... This pick is the cover of a mini album I am working on for her first year of birth. (decided mini's are my fav) I am enjoying the use of all my pink prima flowers and the many papers consisting of Prima and Websters. The scan job does not do this LO justice, it looks bright and cheery in RL. I received a new scanner for Christmas, as soon as I have it all figured out I will post better pics. Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year to all.
